Essential Oils for Transitions

Anyone else feel like they are in the movie Groundhog Day? We are in week 7 of living life very differently and for each of us, the experience has been unique. But one thing we do have in common is that we are all living in a time of uncertainty. I used to teach change management sessions to leaders when I was in my corporate job so thought I would share some of the ‘stages of change’ because its an important reminder of what we CAN do. EVERYONE experiences the same phases no matter what the change..and this is a big one.

When in transition Zone people feel:

  • Resentment towards the change.

  • Low morale and low productivity.

  • Anxiety about role, status or identity.

  • Skepticism about the change.

  • Can also be a time of creativity and innovation.

What people need (our kids or partners) or ourselves:

People need solid direction and goals, they need even more encouragement, reassurance in role (biz owners), and they need to be encouraged to talk about their feelings.

Here's what we have been doing:

We have a schedule we've been sticking with and it's been working pretty well most days. This is our weekday schedule and then weekends are just for fun, selfceare, church, baking, teaching kids to cook, and a little work if we feel inspired. We also have weekly projects. This week it's all about building a shelving unit in the basement and working on the garden. We ask how the kids are doing and feeling often. Boys aren't as aware so I often explain what I think they are feeling and then offer solutions.

We get dressed every day. (ok...Jake had 3 PJ days), we exercise most days and we ALWAYS get into nature. Now the schedule doesn't always work and sometimes the boys stay up too late or fight or eat too much junk but at the end of the day, we are trying our best to provide a level of structure so we can all make it through the transition zone!

Sure we had to close our business so there is a layer of heaviness hanging over us (and we all have a different layer of heavy) but we try to focus on our future being bright and positive because deep down we trust it will be.
