Unfortunately, the common allopathic approach to the symptoms might be anti-depressants, synthetic hormones, sleeping pills or even diabetes medication for weight management. The problem with this approach is that synthetic medication will tax the liver and they only cover up symptoms, never fixing the reason for the imbalance.

There was a time women didn’t experience any of these symptoms. Our world was cleaner, we had fewer processed foods, fewer decisions to make (less stress) and a simpler life over all. Today things are different and as a result, peri-menopause can be rough for many women.

As the ovaries begin to run out of ripe eggs, first progesterone levels drop and it becomes more difficult to sleep or relax (this can often start to begin as early as mid to late thirties or could start mid/late forties and go on for many years).

Then, estrogen (especially estradiol) levels start to fluctuate and decrease. (often 1-8 years before final period). Even though estrogen is dropping, you can still experience and be suffering from estrogen dominance due to very low progesterone levels. It’s about the balance between the 2 and this balance changes by the day or month!

Testosterone levels also drop leading to fatigue, low libido, less confidence, less muscle mass and more fat mass.

Cortisol, Thyroid, Insulin and Leptin hormones also join the party and become out of whack. I believe these are the most important ones to focus on at first! But you’ll learn all about hormonal balance in my programs…or blogs.


What is Hormonal Balance?

In a nutshell, hormonal balance is when your hormones are at the right levels to support your body’s natural functions throughout your life.

Your hormones. Your body’s functions.

Everyone is different.

This means that hormonal levels will not be the same for every woman, and each individual’s balance will be unique. Hormonal levels fluctuate throughout the years as a woman’s body matures, so what you needed in your twenties will not be what you need in your thirties, forties, fifties, and beyond. Additionally, depending on the level of stress, nutritional status, your sleep patterns, and lifestyle habits, your needs could change from month to month, and even week to week if you are still menstruating!
