Growing always…
Key to Balance …
Align your values, skills and interests and all will be good.
At age 45, I was in the midst of a mid-life crisis and the underlying anxiety had been weighing on me for years.
I was working in the field of learning and development (Human Resources) making great money with a solid benefit plan at a respectable company. What more could I ask for? Why wasn’t I more grateful?
Intuitively, I knew I wanted more but I wasn’t sure that I wanted to do what was hard…versus what came easy.
Passion. Flexibility. Community
But my passion won. I really wanted to feel like I was making a difference. I wanted more flexibility in my time and I wanted to stop driving out of my community and instead, connect with my neighbours.
So when I learned about the DoTerra business opportunity, I jumped in part time, put my ego aside and promised myself that I would work on building ‘better beliefs’ (less judgement) about this business model.
I already believed in natural health and the products DoTerra offered and I knew my clients needed them. They were a gateway to getting better and making lifestyle changes and people were really drawn to the HOPE they provided. I also saw an opportunity to teach people how to use them in a safe and smart way….instead of just focusing on a sale.
Now the easy choice was to stay in my role, shove my feelings aside, and keep collecting my stable paycheque. But the lure of being about to make money on my own terms, work at our clinic and help people…was powerful. And I was at the point where I would basically come home to eat, sleep, take kids to sports, work my doterra business and then collapse in front of the TV for about an hour each night. and then repeat.
I just knew there was more I could do to make a bigger difference in this world in an industry I was more passionate about. I was a Holistic Nutritionist and Yoga Teacher and I had ambition…I had so much more to offer!
Most important, I wanted something that would align better with our family. I put so much guilt on myself when I had to call in sick for the kids. All self inflicted but there none-the-less. This career shift allowed me to shake that guilt once and for all.
I was able to go from working a 9-5, Monday-Friday job, with limited vacation time, a cap on my income earnings in the role I was in, to gaining more balance in my life as an entrepreneur where I could create whatever I wanted! I thought the 9-5 work week in a respectable and stable job was the best choice at one time but things change.
My life experiences guided me to create more balance.
The process of creating balance is ongoing and involves a mind, body and spirit approach.
Open Up to Alternate Possibilities
Just because something is the "norm" doesn't mean it is normal, so I found a business model that fit into my career as a nutritionist and wellness clinic co-owner, and gave me time for a life.
Network marketing accelerated the growth of my nutrition practice. I was helping people feel better faster using oils, so they could then make dietary changes more easily.
If you have felt the itch to give more and be more, than this business model may be for you.
- This is not for those who enjoy clocking in and clocking out.
- It is also not for those who need a boss to tell them what to do.
- This is for those who crave success, freedom and leadership.
