Alkalinity

As health practitioners, we often see patients/clients that are more acidic rather than alkaline.  People don't come to us saying, I feel like my body is acidic..of course.  They come to us saying things like: I'm sore, I'm tired, my digestion feels off, I'm moody, I'm overweight or I am tired.

When your body is balanced pH wise, everything will seem to just click.  You'll feel fine.  Your digestion, energy, and mood will more likely be positive and efficient.

However, when your body's pH levels are unbalanced, meaning your body isn't in an optimal state, you might feel a bit off.  Keeping your body in an alkaline or balanced state can boost performance and productivity and it'll be better for your health and happiness in the long-term.

Whats the goal?

The goal for a healthy body is to keep your body’s PH level as close to 7.4 as possible.  So your body and blood have a PH of 7.35 to 7.45 which is slightly alkaline.

Negative Impact of and Acidic Body

Foods and stress play a big role in altering the body’s PH.  People are consuming too many acid forming foods, such as dairy, grains, meats, processed foods, sodas, coffees, alcohol and sweets.  What this means is that in order for your body to maintain balance, your body’s organs, tissues and fluids are constantly trying to neutralize the acids in order to maintain the proper PH level.  That's a lot of work and energy for your organs!

And, having an acidic body over time means your body has difficulty getting rid of metals and repairing damaged cells.  It also allows both yeast and bacteria to thrive.  Organs and bones will deplete the body of minerals along with calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium which can run very low and cause damage that can go undetected for many years.

Some of the Common Symptoms of Acidity or Poor PH Balance:

-Low energy, chronic fatigue

-Weight gain

-Inflamed sensitive gums, cavities

-Bladder and kidney infections

-Joint pain, aching muscles, lactic acid buildup

-Acne

-Allergies

-Headaches, foggy brain

-Heart arrhythmias

-Free radical damage (can be seen in live blood analysis)

What can you do?

First, eat 75% alkaline foods and 25% acidic foods for every meal. An easy way to accomplish this is to ensure you’re eating a high percentage of fruits and vegetables during each meal.  Some citrus fruits have an acidic PH while outside the body but when consumed like lemons, they leave an alkaline level in the body once they have been metabolized.  Adding a greens powder can also help.

Second, is to incorporate yoga, meditation and massage into your life. Deep breathing can help rid your body of acidic, carbon dioxide.

Third, drink lemon or chlorophyll in your water daily!  These foods both help to create an alkaline system.
